One academic year consists of 4 terms, of 10 weeks each. An overview of the complete academic year and holidays can be found here. Each week you have 42 hours of study load, of which approximately 15-18 hours are contacts hours in the first year.
The schedule differs per term ánd per week. The timetable of the next term is published 1,5 weeks before the start of the term. This way you always know a few weeks in advance what your schedule for the upcoming period is. Usually one day per week you have no classes scheduled, but you use these hours for self-study, working on group projects together with your fellow students and/or go on excursions together.
Lectures, practicals, tutorials, project meetings and other classroom activities can be scheduled from 8.30 to 18.00 hours each day. This means you should be available for your studies 42 hours per week.
